New Transfer Site Will Alleviate Dump Dilemma In Belt
In December 2024, the Solid Waste Transfer Station site near Belt, Montana, was unexpectedly closed.
This closure occurred because the landowner and the Cascade County Commission did not renew the lease agreement.
The closure frustrated many residents and forced them to travel to Stockett or other nearby dumps to dispose of their trash.
Belt/Armington Trash Transfer Site
Belt area residents were caught off guard when the Belt dump closed unexpectedly after a lease with Cascade County was not renewed.
The three-acre section of land off Highway 87 has served as the dump site since 2013.
Lease negotiations in 2024 stalled out due to a hefty price increase.
The original lease was $1500 annually, but the landowner wanted it bumped to $4500.
To put it in perspective, that is a 200% increase from the previous lease agreement.
