Whether you believe in Bigfoot or not, numerous people claim to see this hairy beast wandering about each year.

Although Montana has its fair share of Bigfoot sightings, we're pretty far down the list compared to some of our neighboring states.

Bigfoot Sightings

The Bigfoot Field Research Organization keeps detailed records of sightings and pretty much anything revolving around Bigfoot.

What I found a little bit interesting is the lack of Bigfoot sightings here in Montana.

One would think that a state like ours would be perfect for a Bigfoot, and the lack of population would play right into this elusive creature's hand.

But it turns out we're not even in the top 25 states regarding Bigfoot sightings.

Bigfoot In Montana

According to the Bigfoot Field Research Organization, there have been 55 sightings in Montana, which ranks us 30th in the nation.

Now, I suppose you could argue that there aren't many people in Montana and the state is rather expansive, so maybe that's why there are fewer interactions.

Needless to say, most all of the Bigfoot sightings in the Treasure State are in Western Montana, but shockingly there was one sighting in Richland County back in 1999.

In all fairness when you really start to dig into the details, I think the main reason there aren't more Bigfoot sightings here in the Treasure State is due to the lack of people.

If Bigfoot is real and roaming about the hillside, the lack of eyeballs keeps this creature, even that much more elusive.
