If we've talked about it once, we've talked about it a thousand times: data centers.

There's been a lot of discussion about data centers and their impact on our community. Recently, we caught up with the Great Falls Chamber of Commerce and they shared details about an important forum event coming up.

If you have questions about data centers and the energy usage commonly associated with data center discussions in the Great Falls area, you're going to want to pay close attention.

Data Center Open Forum in Great Falls

Jordyn Shamek, Vice President and Marketing Director for the Great Falls Chamber of Commerce joined 560 KMON to talk about an important event coming up for anyone who has questions about data centers.

"We have a luncheon coming up in September, and this is going to be a big one on data centers," Jordyn shared in her sit-down interview with 560 KMON. "Hot topic right now. So and thanks to our sponsors, NorthWestern Energy and Vision Net, it's free to our members to come to this luncheon."

When I asked about NorthWestern Energy's involvement in the event, Jordyn explained including them was about having all of the facts available.

"We wanted to bring kind of an informational session and not a one-sided conversation," Jordyn explained, "So, NorthWestern Energy is going to talk about the impact to our resources, what it means to our community and what a data center would look like in Great Falls if we had one."

"And Vision Net actually does have smaller data centers here."

VisionNet already operating data centers in the area might come as a surprise to some people who are just getting up-to-speed on data centers and what they actually do.

"They're going to talk about what that looks like, how data centers come in different shapes, sizes for different communities and what that means going forward if they were to build more or what they already are here in our community," Jordyn said.
