Reaction to the Morning Earthquake in Great Falls
People all across Great Falls got a little shake this morning when a 3.6 magnitude earthquake kicked off the weekend at 7:40am according to Meteorologist Ryan Dennis. He reports the epicenter was "5km NW of Black Eagle."
The moment it happened, it had the entire town talking.
What Were You Doing During the Earthquake?
When the earthquake happened, I was live on-air doing our morning show for 560 KMON-AM.
I initially thought someone was blaring loud music until my co-worker down the hall, JD, came and asked me: "Did you feel an earthquake?"
Not even a minute later, my phone line lights up with a listener asking me the same thing!
Great Falls Reacts to Friday Morning Earthquake
The caller, who didn't want to use her real name and preferred to be called "Judy", called in from the northwest side of Great Falls.
"It was just boom and the house shook," Judy shared.

Apparently, she was inside her home, enjoying a hot drink when it all went down.
"I was trying to drink my morning tea," she said, "It really got my heart pumping again. I don't know!"
Judy shared that, like a lot of people, she noticed items in her home shaking.
"So, did you feel the ground? Did you notice things on the wall shaking? What did you actually see?" I asked.

"Just the dishes rattling in my China closet."
When I asked Judy if she had a chance to go outside or talk to a neighbor about the mini quake, she said he had initial thoughts similar to mine.
"He thought it was a big truck going to come through the house and then he realized... that's not what it was. So, it was a pretty good one."
