"September Preparedness Month is a great opportunity to get signed up for our CodeRED emergency notification system," Great Falls Fire Rescue said in their post.

"City and county officials will use CodeRED to alert residents and businesses by phone, SMS, email, mobile app and more. Keep informed of critical emergencies in our area!"

Why Is It Important To Sign Up For CodeRED?

I don't know about you but I'm always checking maps that reveal where sex offenders live or where crimes have been reported. As far as I'm concerned, knowledge is power and knowing what's going on in your neighborhood is essential.

By signing up for CodeRED, you'll get notifications directly from emergency officials with instructions on how to stay safe during dangerous situations. Also, it's not just alerts about crime or fire incidents.

According to the City of Great Falls, the CodeRED system will also include "AMBER alerts, notifications of hazardous traffic or road conditions, boil water advisories or evacuation notices."

You can get the app on both iPhone and Android devices. Stay safe!
