
Someone Is Placing Fake Parking Tickets on Vehicles Around Great Falls
Whether it's a prank or a pathetic attempt at scamming for a quick buck, someone is up to no good in Great Falls and police are putting people on notice.
Great Falls Police Issue Warning for Residents
Great Falls police recently shared a post warning residents about "fake parking tickets" popping up in the area.
"GFPD volunteers recently found these fake orange and green stickers affixed to vehicles," the post said. "If caught placing a fake sticker on a vehicle, a citation for criminal mischief could result."
Okay, here's the obvious question: "Why?

Like, if you're a young teenager with nothing to do and simply just don't know better... I can maybe understand the stupidity - like a really bad "prank" if you will. Before I get an email, I am not saying this makes it okay or any better. It's still wrong.

Now, if this is a grown adult putting out these fake stickers with an intent to stress people out or make a dishonest buck then shame on them. You would think the penalty for falsifying something like a parking ticket would be much more severe than a misdemeanor although I'm no legal expert. The severity could (obviously) depend on how large this "operation" is.

Then there's the small possibility these stickers were placed as a misunderstanding. Hey, I said it was a "small" possibility.
Police do want to remind people that their post about the fake parking tickets was about vehicles parked on public property.
"This post pertains to vehicles parked on public property. Vehicles parked on private property are subject to the property owner's discretion and could receive stickers like these."
