Tragic Fatal Incident on I-90 Triggers Urgent Search Across Montana

We're currently in the middle of the 100 Deadliest Days which ends on Labor Day. For those who are unfamiliar, this time period marks the deadliest time to travel on the road and as a way to remind drivers to be safe this time of year.

Unfortunately, there will always be drivers who ignore safety warnings thinking nothing will happen... until it does.

Montana Highway Patrol Looking for Hit-and-Run Suspect

In a release shared around 10:37 PM last night on Facebook, Montana Highway Patrol shared sad news about a hit-and-run incident.

"The Montana Highway Patrol is seeking information regarding a fatal crash that occurred on I-90 westbound near mile marker 332 outside of Livingston in Park County," Montana Highway Patrol said in their post. "The crash occurred between approximately 8:40 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. this evening."

"A vehicle that may have been involved did not remain at the scene. The vehicle is possibly described as a pickup."

Penalty for Hit-and-Run with Death Involved

What an absolutely horrible and sad accident. As you'd expect, the penalty for causing serious bodily harm or death in a hit-and-run is pretty serious.

According to Montana law, the penalty for such a crime is up to 10 years of prison time along with a hefty fine of $50,000. It should go without saying the individual responsible will also have their driving privileges revoked.
