Great Falls Documentary Honored on Global Film Stage
If you've lived in Montana long enough, you know darn well that there's a story waiting to be told all across the state, especially in Great Falls.
Recently, a Great Falls filmmaker received some major recognition for sharing stories about the "feisty women" of Great Falls.
"Feisty Women of Great Falls"
If you've ever tried putting a video together, let alone a documentary, you understand how intricate and tedious the process can be. From mapping out your content to organizing interviews, creating graphics, mixing down the audio, setting up your lighting, etc... it can be A LOT.
Great Falls' own Shannon Newth did just that and then some with her documentary: "Feisty Women of Great Falls."

"I had the privilege of directing, producing, shooting, and editing the stories of five incredible women," Shannon shared on a Facebook post.
"I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to highlight these voices through storytelling at Visit Great Falls Montana."
According to the documentary, the five women featured in the doc are:
Mary Fields – "Beloved by nuns and welcomed into saloons, she defied cultural norms and delivered as promised."
Annie Busby – "Tenacious and determined, she was one of the first women to use the Homestead Act - without a man - in Central Montana."
Alma Smith Jacobs – "A woman who wouldn't let brick walls or social expectations stop her, she was a pioneering woman who made an enduring impact on community relations, politics, and education."
Nancy Cooper Russell – "An inspiring businesswoman and true public relations professional. We know Charlie Russell's art because of her."
Norma Ashby Smith – "The first lady of Montana television and creator of significant events, her influence still resonates in the community today."
