Welp, here we are. It's 2026 and we can finally say that we have flying cars... well, sorta.

Elon Musk and his company have introduced their "Rocket Roadster" vehicle and yes... it promises to "fly."

Is Montana Ready for Flying Cars?

I'll come right out and say absolutely not. Not a chance.

Have you seen how some drivers take the roundabout over there near 2Js? And now you want to give drivers the ability to make their car "fly"?

And about that flying thing, it looks more like "jumping" than it does "flying" but still. Are Montana drivers really ready for vehicles that can go airborne at the touch of a button?

Imagine "Crackhead Billy" boosting his cousin's new flying car after a bender and winding up someone's roof like a Meth Head Santa - it just sounds like a bad idea.

What do Montana's Driving Stats Look Like?

A lesson I learned a long time ago that still sticks with me today is this: If you can't master the basics, what makes you think you can do the advanced part of what you're doing?

First of all, I can't IMAGINE what insurance costs would look like, then there's the whole malfunction thing - just think about how many vehicle recalls are out there; what if your jumping or landing propulsion goes out while you're airborne? You're done!

And according to the Montana Department of Transportation, "there were 198 fatalities in 2025." As for 2026, the Montana Department of Transportation says there have been "133 fatalities on Montana highways in 2026 compared to 165 fatalities for this same time in 2025."

A decrease is always good but how far up does that number go when you introduce flying into the picture?

Call me crazy but I don't think anyone in the U.S., let alone Montana, is ready for the added privilege of going airborne in their vehicle.

Not even close.

Flying cars are real and I hope Montana never allows them. Share your thoughts with me HERE.
