As someone who's currently in the middle of experiencing his first Montana "winter", I have to admit... my first one isn't as bad as I thought it would be.

Now, I'm fully aware that this winter is mild compared to what Montana normally experiences, but at least that gives us more time to enjoy the outdoors without getting frostbite.

According to AccuWeather, Great Falls can expect another week ahead of decent weather with highs hovering around the 50s and lows in the 40s before gradually dipping down to the 20s.

And as we all know, that's perfect weather for hanging in the backyard and busting out the fire pit. And think about it: this weather, with the huge Montana sky, and a nice fire to keep the vibes warm and comfortable.

But don't get too excited, there are still some rules if you plan on lighting up the fire pit.

  • "Non-portable fire pits shall not be located within 25 feet of a structure or combustible material."
  • "All fires shall not exceed 3 feet in diameter and 2 feet in height."
