With the holiday season right around the corner, the Great Falls Community Food Bank is gearing up for what is typically one of the busiest times of the year. Thankfully, the community has been given a little more time before Old Man Winter makes things even tougher for families in need.
Great Falls Community Food Bank Needs Our Help
During the recent federal government shutdown, the community rallied to support our local nonprofits that assist families who suddenly found themselves without paychecks or benefits. With the government now reopened, all focus has now shifted to preparing families for the holiday season.
And right now, shelves are running low in some important areas while the cost of living continues to rise for the citizens of Montana.
As we shared with you about two months ago, Montana spends the biggest percentage of our income on groceries while the price of groceries have gone up 6.4% year-over-year.
It's Time For The Community To Step Up This Holiday Season
The food bank's shortages and rising cost of groceries will be become more noticeable as Thanksgiving and Christmas approach, when demand goes up and families rely heavily on donated goods to complete holiday meals or make ends meet.

To help restock, the Great Falls Community Food Bank has released a list of their most-needed items heading into the season. Every little bit helps and if you’re able to give, now is the time to help families in our community as we head into the holiday season.
