Last week, I asked the age-old question, what's your favorite side dish for Thanksgiving?

Mine, I have to go with the old staple, mashed potatoes and gravy.  Except in my house, for the holidays, we do our spuds Dutch Style.

Cube unpeeled potatoes, cube a big onion, and peel 4 to 6 carrots and cut them into chunks.  Boil them until soft, drain the water, save a coffee cup full for your gravy, then mash them.  I always add butter, not margarine, it's the holiday!  Salt, pepper, season salt, and garlic. Whip them up nice and fluffy and give it a try.  I look forward to it all year.

My second favorite side is deviled eggs followed by stuffing.  When stuffing goes bad, it's really really bad.  I had a cousin who make stuffing that somehow ended up rubbery.  How can stuffing jiggle like that?

Here's what you had to say

The WINNER IS:

Stuffing!  A fast second, to my surprise is sweet potato casserole, or some version of sweet potatoes, and mashed potatoes come in third.

You know what I didn't see

Turkey or Ham.  I have been fighting the Turkey or Ham only Thanksgiving thing since I became an adult. In the last 25 years, I've had turkey twice in my home and ham, never.  Not once.

That leads me to this, with prices so high on everything, make your own tradition.  We either go out for Thanksgiving, or get a really nice beef roast.  You are the master of your own Thanksgiving destiny.
