This past weekend, the community rallied to try and track down missing 22-year-old Tanner Rust. Unfortunately, authorities announced late on Sunday night that they had located Rust and that he was deceased when they found him.

News of his passing broke the hearts of the community but now, loved ones are turning this tragedy into a positive for the future.

Loved Ones of Tanner Rust Start GoFundMe for Scholarship

In a post shared to Facebook that came across my timeline, I learned that Rust's loved ones wanted to do something to honor Tanner's love and passion for hockey.

"A huge thank you to our community for coming together to help find Tanner," Desiree Parsons shared in a public post on Facebook, "I wish more than anything that Tanner could have seen the outpouring of love, support, and everyone who came together for him."

You can donate to Tanner's hockey scholarship HERE.

"Tanner had a deep love for the game, and hockey brought him so much joy, friendship, and happiness," the GoFundMe says.

"Through this scholarship, we hope to carry his love for hockey forward and give other young players the opportunity to experience the sport that meant so much to him."

At the time writing this, the GoFundMe has reached $20,392 out of the $30,000 goal.

As we all know, the Great Falls community always steps up, and I have no doubt they'll surpass this goal to create a long-lasting opportunity for future hockey players.
