Great Falls PD Invites Citizens to See How They Operate This September

Most of us would agree there is a big focus on protecting our community right now. Whether it's from Flock cameras infringing on our privacy, data centers consuming our natural resources, or keeping our community safe, we're all trying our best to make sense of it all.

Now, an opportunity to better understand police work in Great Falls is coming up and you can be a part of it.

Great Falls Police Department Citizens Academy

The next GFPD Citizens Academy starts September 17th and will go thru November 12th. The goal is tol give the people of Great Falls a better perspective of how our police department operates from an administrative level to the use of force.

And in my opinion, anyone who's ever challenged or contested how our police do their work should be among the first to sign up. That's not a berating challenge either; people have their right to feel how they want to about law enforcement.

But, shouldn't those same critics take the time to get an up close and personal look at how it works to help have those questions answered? I think that would be a great idea!

Topics covered at the academy will include the use of force, administration duties, investigations, SWAT, DUI's, police culture, animal control, and more.

How To Register for GFPD Citizens Academy

I know, you're chomping at the bit to get signed up and you should be! Again, the Academy begins September 17th thru November 12th with classes taking place every Thursday night from 6pm-9pm plus one Saturday class. The cost? Nothing. Zilch. Nada. It's free!

They even hook you up with dinner. Remember, you have to be at least 18 and live in the Great Falls area to to attend among other requirements including a background check.
