Great Falls police are back in action again, keeping the public safe according to a post early this morning from Great Falls Police Department.
Here is everything we know.
Great Falls Police Ask Public to Avoid Area
In a post shared early Monday morning, Great Falls police asked the public to "avoid the area of 44th Street and Central Avenue."
"Officers are on scene in the unit block of 44th Street South attempting to contact a person involved in a Felony Assault with Weapon investigation," police said, "This investigation began just before 3am after a 911 call from this location."
"At this point a large police presence is on scene and actively attempting to get this person to comply and exit the residence. Again, please avoid the area."
From the sound of it, police are in the middle of a stand-off with the person involved in their investigation.
Why Are Great Falls Police In A Stand-Off?
We can't assume or speculate any motive behind the situation. Every scenario is different and I hope this individual is able to get any help they need.
That said, I would imagine most people involved in case dealing with Felony Assault with Weapon wouldn't be excited to get caught.

According to Montana law, "a person convicted of assault with a weapon shall be imprisoned in the state prison for a term not to exceed 20 years or be fined not more than $50,000, or both."
Obviously, penalties depend on the severity of the crime, and I don't imagine a stand-off will help this individual avoid any additional charges.
We'll share more updates at the top of this story right here as we get them.
