Great Falls Voyagers Star Slugger Gets Called to the Big Leagues

We're smack dab in the middle of baseball season with the Great Falls Voyagers. As the team gears up for their epic Fourth of July game coming up this weekend, I had a chance to catch up with head coach/manager Sean Repay... just don't call him that.

"At our, at our level in, in pro ball, we just basically are just the manager, and you know, my players aren't allowed to call me coach," Sean said, "We kind of dog them if they do."

"It's a very rookie thing to say. Usually, it's either Sean or they'll call me skip."

That's just one of many lessons Sean has for his players and if you're willing to listen, work, and show up - he could help spring you into the pros.

After setting the record straight on how to properly address a coach - sorry - "Skip" in baseball, we got talk to talking about one of Repay's players who came out of the gate for the Voyagers strong.

"So, about a week and a half ago we had a guy that was actually with us," Sean explained. "He came into our organization at the end of the last year, Aiden Redahan, you know, had a decent start, but then came back to our team, re-signed, had a great spring training and just blossomed into the best player in our league through the first month and a half of the season."

And how good was Redaham through that first month and a half?

"He was hitting, you know, almost .500, which is, I understand it's a hitter's league here... you know, small ballparks aside, but to almost hit 500 in a month and a half spread was just the most remarkable thing I have ever witnessed coaching."

It didn't take for the baseball world to notice and before long, Redahan received a call that changed his life forever.

"He signed with the Colorado Rockies," Sean proudly shared, "About five days ago , [he] reported to their complex rookie ball league."

"He only played three games there, hit .400 in three games, and he texted me yesterday morning that they're flying him to Fresno. So, he's already been promoted to A-ball."

"I'm excited for him."

Sean says that getting guys to reach their professional baseball goals is his number one priority.

"My number one goal is to see how many guys we can get out of here," he said, "But that's also ultimately up to them too. It takes a great deal of discipline and routine and belief in yourself to do that."

And while Sean, along with the rest of us, have every right to be excited, Repay says he has a plethora of Big-League talent on his squad.

"There are other guys on this team that could go," Sean says, "I mean, we have a bunch in my opinion, especially on the offensive side of the baseball."

"We have some really special guys but for [Aiden Redahan] to go and keep up that trend, it's remarkable and he earned it."
