Last year, I stumbled across arguably one of the best contests on the Internet.

This contest literally allows you to watch brown bears eating fish in a river in Alaska and then turn around and vote on your favorite!

I'm not even making this up; It is a 100% legit contest.

You can check out my original article here from when I first encountered the event.👇

Alright, let's get into the details of what Fat Bear Week is all about.

Fat Bear Week 2024

Fat Bear Week 2024 kicks off on October 2nd and runs through October 8th.

During this time, you'll be able to watch brown bears at Brooks River in Katmai National Park, Alaska.

The bears hang out in this area to eat a truckload of fish and fatten up for winter hibernation.

You can watch the bears live from 8a to 5 Mountain time.

After spending a few hours watching these magnificent animals fish their way to victory, you get to vote for your favorite!

Trust me, you won't go into this planning to spend hours watching these bears, but I can almost promise you that you will.

2024 Fat Bear Week Voting

Keep in mind this is a single-elimination tournament.

You can check out the bracket here and vote for the bear you feel exemplifies fatness and overall success as a brown bear.

Only one bear can be crowned the champion of Fat Bear Week!

Oh, and before you get started, you can meet the bear contestants here.

These Idaho Bears Are Melting Hearts Everywhere

You probably already know that Idaho is home to plenty of bears-- but how often do you get to see them? When it comes to baby bears, there are even fewer chances--an encounter with them in the wild could cause the need for an aggressive escape from a looming mama bear.

Idaho Black Bear Rescue does an amazing job of sharing photos and videos from their refuge where baby bears are the stars!
