With winter rearing its ugly head in Montana, the dinner menu at home should be simple, easy, most of all delicious for after work to avoid just ordering out for dinner again. When I thought about this I immediately turned to my ever-trusty slow cooker.

What could be more simple than setting it and heading to work to have a delicious stew, pot roast, or soup to have when you return. Clean up is a breeze, and the family will be happy with a rib sticking meal, and the best part is there is no argument on what to have for dinner when house smells amazing when everyone walks in the door.

Beef or Pork Pot Roast

We like to grab kits that are either store brand or from Tyson merely for the convenience of tearing it open, adding the ingredients, and setting it on high for however long it takes to cook. they have been proven in our house to be a major hit with little to no effort preparing. If you prefer to make your own, get creative with it.

Slow Cooker Soup

Slow cooker soups are great for when you need a great meal on budget, especially if you have ingredients like beans and lentils. All those are great for crock pot cooking as they need time to cook and what a better time to do so while you are busy at work.

Slow Cooker Stew

This one is especially easy. Just hit your freezer for all the ingredients, there is always some frozen vegetable in there to throw in, barley is always a good choice, and jazz it up with elk, deer, or any wild game meat if beef is unavailable. One of my favorite hacks is to add a gravy packet in to bind things together right at the very end.
