When it comes to women's equality, Montana isn't exactly leading the pack.

A new WalletHub report has Montana ranked #42 in America, with an overall score of 46.62.

Montana Ranks Well For Women's Workplace Environment

Coming in toward the bottom of the list when it comes to women's equality isn't exactly something to be proud of. However, there is one part of this new report that really stands out.

It turns out Montana is actually one of the better states when it comes to the "Workplace Environment."

Our ranking in that category has us at #12, which is a pretty big difference from our overall ranking.

That's because it's the other areas where Montana ranks so poorly that drag down our overall score.

Montana's Education and Health Rankings Lag Behind

The state ranks 48th for "Education & Health" and 34th for "Political Empowerment." Those rankings pull Montana's overall score down and help explain why we're sitting in the bottom 10 nationally.

And when you look at our neighbors, Montana isn't exactly surrounded by states doing worse.

North Dakota ranks 23rd, Wyoming is 35th, and South Dakota comes in at 36th. Idaho is behind Montana at 47th, while Utah brings up the very bottom of the list at 50th.

So yes, Montana isn't the worst state in the region, but is that really something to be proud of?
