Central Montana Sports Round-up With Baker Bob

Time to look ahead to our AA contests this week with our Electric City teams

The Bison have a short week of practice and preparation as the are expected in Billings Thursday evening. The Rustlers stay home for a Friday matchup. AA regular season is at the halfway point CMR and Great Falls High sit at an identical 2-2. As with any team sports there are two factors at play each team must first turn off the outside noise and distractions and focus on the one task at hand. Do your best to win the next game!! For that to happen with the CMR Rustlers it's to learn from the last two weeks and turn those losses into lessons to diagnose and elevate your game.

Friday Night, CMR

Let's scope out the opponent for Friday's home contest. The Belgrade Panthers come to town. They sit at 0-4, the only AA team without a win. They average 120 yards rushing and passing game at only 73 yards and yielding only 12 points per game. Easy picking, right? Not so fast , the Rustlers only average 14 1/2 points per game. Caleb Taylor for CMR will have to live up to his 200 yards per game passing statistic and Keegan Taylor will have to up his game from his 76 yard per game average. River Wasson will be the X factor in both rushing and receiving for the Rustlers . To dominate, the Rustler D line will need to shut down Brady Aschim in the running attack of the Panthers to give the CMR offense a chance to get on the high side of some quick scores. They need to focus on the opponent in front of them at home before going on the road next Friday to challenge Skyview.

Thursday Night, Bison

As for the Bison, after facing the best offenses in the state, the Bozeman Hawks last week, now they faced a short week, a Thursday evening contest on the road. The Bison bus to Billings for a very winnable game against the Billings Senior Broncs. The Bison pass attack has had Riley Collett completing to 10 receivers. The Bison running attack is solid with Ryder English, and Isayah Brown, putting up the yards and the touchdowns to prove it, The Broncs come in at 1-3. Quarterback Peyton Oakley throws for 60% completions accounting for 442 yards. Their weak rushing attack has only four touchdowns to date. The Bronx will have their hands full against the Bison D line and linebackers. Look for number 40 Cooper Collins to add heavily to his personal stats. Next up for the Bison , they'll come back home to challenge the Gallatin Raptors for a homecoming contest Bison kickoff at 7pm Thursday.
