April 11, The Flathead Beacon reported that the Flathead Conservation District's Board of Supervisors approved a cease-and-desist order to prevent further work on the home.  The reason for the order was to make sure the couple, John and Stacey Ambler of San Diego, California, didn't resume construction on the home, and if they did, the board could have the court enforce the order for them.  This could take up to 8 months to conclusion.

It should be noted that the Amblers have halted construction on the 3 story home that sits 20 feet from McDonald Creek.  This whole mess came to be due to the fact that the Amblers failed to get the required FREE permit needed, a 310 Permit.  In March, they were ordered to tear down the home by November 1, 2023.

Now there is a fear that neither deadline will be met.

The Amblers contend that they followed the law by contacting the proper authorities and were told they didn't need any permit to begin construction.  Property records indicate that the property was purchased in 2019, a parcel that is 2,309 square feet.  They say they've been coming to Glacier for over 40 years and staying in another private cabin in the park.

The future of the home will be discussed further when the supervisors meet again on April 24th.  We're following the story and will keep you up to date with any new information.
