Montana Shoppers Urged to Avoid Shrimp in Major Recall
Back in August, we shared an important story with you regarding a major recall on shrimp sold throughout the country. Like my colleague Tammie shared when the story originally broke: this sounds like something out of a superhero movie.
Now, we're dealing with another round of radioactive shrimp.
Radioactive Shrimp Reign Terror On Montana Shoppers
Okay, that might be a little dramatic to say - even for a guy like me who would love nothing more than to see a horror sci-fi film about radioactive shrimp the same way a film studio put out Atomic Shark. No, seriously, a movie about a radioactive shark exists.

As a matter of fact, my oldest daughter and I have this odd fascination with horrible B-movies in the sci-fi genre that we enjoy laughing at. Atomic Shark is one of them, then you have 6-Headed Shark, which is the sequel to 5-Headed Shark, you got Santa Jaws(whenever the shark gets near, you can hear Santa's sleigh bells, it's the best) etc... but I digress.

Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately), we're not dealing with radioactive or Christmas sharks chomping at the bit to get a piece of our delicious selves. Instead, we're dealing with radioactive shrimp that we could accidentally consume, thus causing a multitude of health risks.
Montana Shoppers Affected By Radioactive Shrimp Recall
Back in August, the contaminated shrimp was the Great Value brand of "Frozen Raw White Vannamei Shrimp"/"Frozen Raw Ez Peel Tail-On Farm-Raised White Vannamei Shrimp," this time it's shrimp from the brands: Kroger/Kroger Mercado/Aquastar.
According to the FDA, a combined 85,184 bags of shrimp are included in the recall for being contaminated with cesium-137 (Cs-137), a man-made radioisotope of cesium. If you're exposed, you could be putting yourself at a higher risk for cancer according to the CDC.
One of the stores where the shrimp was sold was Smith's, which is popular in Montana, and was sold between June 12th and September 17th. The shrimp you're on the lookout for along with the UPC codes are:
