The weather can also determine how long the kiddos will be out trick-or-treating; you don't wanna call it a night too early and miss out on all of the goodies, right?
And speaking of trick-or-treating, there are some things you should never pass out.
Weird Items Handed Out For Trick-Or-Treating
Back when I was a young kid, there was a rumor among the other kids on the school bus that there was a new person who was "super rich" that moved into a house on a particular neighborhood corner.

We all would talk about visiting this house with the expectation that we would walk away with king-sized candy or entire family packs of candy. Little did we know that the man handing out items from this house thought a little differently... and it turned into a tradition that the neighborhood kids would eventually look forward to.
As it turns out, this man would give out the most random of items: one year we each got a random gardening tool, and another year, I remember most of us getting candy but another kid in our group got a smoke detector.

No packaging, no batteries... just a round cream-colored smoke detector with a red and black wire sticking out of it. It almost looked like he got tired of it beeping on the ceiling and ripped it out, cords and all.
Most of us just gave weird looks and awkward "thank you's", but maybe it was the "trick" part of "trick-or-treating" that we didn't fully understand at the time.
What Should You NEVER Hand Out On Halloween For Trick-Or-Treating?
We don't think there's a chance any kids in Montana will get a smoke detector in their trick-or-treat bag but then again, anything is possible.
Here some items you probably shouldn't give out on Halloween unless you want to have to explain yourself to a judge.
