So, I recently realized that Montana's winds are nothing to take lightly. And here's the crazy part, we haven't seen anything yet... at least according to my coworkers and other locals I've encountered.
I recently shared a story about the strongest wind to ever breeze through Montana and it sent me down a rabbit hole.
Montana's Winds Can Be Destructive... And Deadly
For those who are curious, the strongest wind ever recorded in Montana took place outside of Choteau and reached speeds up to 143 mph. Now, I'm fully aware that this isn't a regular occurrence but winds do pick up in Montana.

According to Weather Spark, the windiest part of the year for Great Falls is from October to April with average wind speeds of more than 9.5 mph. Weather Spark also says that the windiest month of the year for Great Falls is January with an average wind speed of 11.7 mph.
Now, let's keep in mind - these are averages. Wind speeds can pick up at any time at a moment's notice, creating a dangerous situation if you're unprepared.

This is a question I am asking myself after doing research on how windy it can get in Montana and being from Texas, I haven't experienced the type of wind that I've heard about from coworkers and locals.
