The Department of Justice recently announced a major initiative to address unresolved violent crimes in Indian Country.

This vital initiative will enhance FBI resources across the United States and support Operation Not Forgotten.

FBI to Deploy 60 Personnel in Nationwide Operation

The FBI will conduct a nationwide operation over six months, assigning 60 personnel to rotating 90-day temporary duty assignments.

These agents will deploy to support field offices in key regions, including Albuquerque, Denver, Detroit, Jackson (MS), Minneapolis, Oklahoma City, Phoenix, Portland (OR), Seattle, and Salt Lake City.

Operation Not Forgotten will address long-standing violent crime cases and missing persons investigations throughout Indian Country.

The FBI will work closely with the Bureau of Indian Affairs and Tribal law enforcement to pursue justice across multiple jurisdictions.

Crime rates in American Indian and Alaska Native communities are unacceptably high,” said Attorney General Pam Bondi. By surging FBI resources and collaborating closely with U.S. Attorneys and Tribal law enforcement, the Department of Justice will help deliver the accountability that these communities deserve.
