Pastor set to leave downtown church

The pastor that has created a controversy at his downtown church is leaving Great Falls for Colorado. Pastor Jeff Wakeley of the First United Methodist Church will be heading to Colorado torun a church in Woodland Park. Wakeley has been at the center of a dispute with the city over the homeless living on church property.

Late last month the city filed suit against the church citing several zoning violations concerning the homeless. Wakeley started letting the homeless set up an encampment on the church grounds and that has upset a lot of people who live and work downtown.

We have been unable to find out if his leaving has anything to do with the controversy at the church.
