Western Art Week

You may not realize this, but Western Art Week is world renowned in the art community.

People from all walks of life from all over the nation and Canada flood Great Falls for the largest art show in the area.

Hundreds of artists gather at various shows throughout the city featuring their western art.

Most events kick off on Thursday the 20th and run through Saturday the 22nd.

The History of Western Art Week

You've probably heard of Western Art Week but are unaware of its history and how it came to be.

This popular event started with the Russell auction, the brainchild of former broadcaster Norma Ashby-Smith.

Norma has shared the story over the years that folks initially never thought the idea would take off.
