I don't know about you but I am excited at the growth happening in Great Falls. Not only will it bring more opportunities for the city, but it'll also bring more businesses and services that people might end up falling in love with.

And now, the people of Great Falls won't have too much to worry about when it comes to another big business coming to town.

WinCo in Great Falls

By now, you've probably heard that WinCo would be setting shop in Great Falls at the former Shopko building 301 Northwest Bypass.

I've had the pleasure of visiting WinCo regularly when my family and I lived in Boise, Idaho and let me tell you something, they've got some good stuff!

I especially liked their hot pizza slice deal that was a great (and quick) option for lunch. I want to say it was every Wednesday, if I'm not mistaken it's been a while.

But did you know there was a group trying to put a stop to it all?

No More Pushback Against WinCo in Great Falls

According to the City of Great Falls, an appeal was submitted by "Big Sky Workers Coalition" to appeal the building permit for the WinCo location at 301 NW Bypass.

It was just announced that this meeting has since been canceled.

"The City of Great Falls Board of Appeals public hearing scheduled for Thursday, September 24, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. regarding the appeal submitted by Big Sky Workers Coalition has been canceled," the City of Great Falls said.

"The appeal concerned the City of Great Falls’ decision to issue a building permit for the construction of a WinCo store located at 301 NW Bypass, Building Permit No. BLDC-01016826-2026."

City officials say the appeal was withdrawn on September 21st and that the hearing wouldn't happen.

And thank goodness, right? Who wouldn't want to enjoy a nice hot slice of pizza for when they need a quick lunch?

And hey, there could be something I don't know about the situation and could sound like a total whacko. Let me know!
