Before we trade in our shorts, flip flops, tank tops for hoodies, jeans and boots, you should check out some fun things to do in Great Falls!  It's so easy to forget what your home town has to offer when you see it every single day.  We have some real only-in-Great-Falls, parks, museums and trails that would be for a great early fall family outing.

First up, our most famous artist, Charlie Russell, and The C. M. Russell Museum.  It's hard to believe this famous Great Falls artist moved to Montana when he was 16 to be a cowboy, and ended up being one of the most famous artists in Montana history. The museum is open every day.

Next up, my personal favorite, The Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center.  Built on the banks of the Missouri, this one-of-a-kind museum will keep your family busy for a couple of hours, and teach them all about when Lewis and Clark stayed in our neck of the woods, and essentially naming Great Falls.

Now for our State Park inside Great Falls, Giant Springs State Park.  Known for the world's shortest river, The Roe River, Giant Springs is a great place to hang out, fish, take selfies and think about how Lewis and Clark were the first to record this area for posterity in 1805.  Those of us raised here, also think of it as a place to feed the fish, as the Trout hatchery is also there.

If you've got a little adventure in you, and maybe a dog, take the River's Edge Trail.  There are 53 miles of trail in and around Great Falls, a lot through historical areas.  All, great for a walk!

And finally, how about one last look at the dams and waterfalls right here in town!  If you follow the River's Edge Trail, or drive out past Giant Springs, eventually you'll hit them all.

We'll cover some fun winter things to do in Great Falls in the near future.  For now, let's grab this no-coat weather by the tail and enjoy our small space under the big sky.
