Billings Man Sentenced for Running Drug Operation in Sober House

Addiction is no joke and unfortunately, it can come back any time and bring you down when you least expect it. And as unfortunate that is for those affected by this terrible disease, actions stemming from addiction still come with consequences.

And look, I'm not here to judge but the law is the law.

Billings Man Busted for Drug Operation

You know, I'm going to be straight with you: if I was about ten or twelve-years younger working in radio, there's a good chance I would have found a punchline in this story, but the truth is: it's sad.

According to authorities, Drury Daniel Hill, 27,was recently sentenced for attempted possession with intent to distribute carfentanil. Authorities also say he was receiving fentanyl in the mail while staying in a sober living house.

And if you're unfamiliar, carfentanil is a serious and very dangerous drug.

What is carfentanil?

According to the FDA, "carfentanil is a synthetic opioid originally developed for veterinary use, more specifically to tranquilize large animals such as elephants."

It's not intended for use by us humans and experts estimate it to be "10,000 times more potent than morphine and 100 times stronger than fentanyl."

Because of that ridiculous potency, all it takes is as little as a microscopic dose to kill someone.

Billings Man Sentenced

When the law caught up with him, busting him at the post office to receive one of his dirty packages from his source in California, Hill admitted to authorities he was planning to sell the fentanyl and carfentanil.

For his crimes, Hill is looking at four years and a month behind bars followed by five years of supervised release.

I truly hope the guy is able to get the help he needs and is willing to put the work into himself for the long run.
