Now, it's time to look at some of the items we are paying less for in 2026.
Why are some grocery prices decreasing?
It would have been easy to share the top six items that are more expensive and then leave it alone, but we also have to look at things the other way, right?
Surely, not everything has gone up in price.
Take chicken for example. As you'll see the price of chicken has decreased but why?

According to Southern Ag Today, "the number of eggs set, and chicks placed in December 2025 were up 1.3 percent and 1 percent, respectively, compared to the year before so, it looks like more broiler production is coming early in 2026."
Poultry Hatch reports that "US poultry producers [ramped] up output to meet both domestic and export demand, creating temporary oversupply conditions."
That's a win for us and yet, we haven't heard much about it in the news.
How much have grocery prices gone down?
In our findings, percentage decreases on these items range between 2.4% and 13.3%. That may not seem like much to some but every dollar (and cent) counts!
