How MT’s Property Taxes Compare To The Nation
I imagine there's hardly a Montana resident who hasn't felt the pinch of increasing property taxes and wonders what the future holds.
This has been a hot topic at this year's legislative session, as lawmakers have been looking for solutions to fix this crazy tax hike.
It's easy to think that Montana is the only state impacted by significantly higher property taxes, but when you compare Montana to the rest of the nation, we're nowhere near the top.
The financial website WalletHub recently looked into property taxes nationwide and ranked all 50 states.

Unfortunately, property taxes are a way of life, whether we like it or not.
Don't get me wrong; I hardly agree with how expensive they have become over the last few years, and I genuinely don't believe the cost is worth the reward.
According to US Census Bureau data, the average American household pays $2,969 annually in property taxes on its home.
In addition to that, the average vehicle tax is $492 a year.
It's crazy that just living our daily lives costs over $3000 a year.
Montana Property Taxes
According to WalletHub, Montana's effective real estate rate is .75%.
For example, on a home worth just over $300,000, that comes out to about $2,275 a year in property taxes.
The median tax rate in the Treasure State falls at $2,535.
With any luck law makers will make some progress on the issue during this year's session.
