In case you missed it, we shared the news that Governor Gianforte officially declared January 20th as "Bobcat Day" to celebrate the national championship win by the Montana State Bobcats over Illinois.
As one might expect, that's a great reason for the Bobcats to celebrate and make their championship win a little sweeter.
But how do the Montana Griz feel?
Governor Gianforte Responds To Griz Fans Critiquing 'Bobcat Day'
When Governor Gianforte shared the proclamation to social media, the announcement drew celebratory reactions from Bobcat fans but left Griz fans with some burning questions:
"Could we get a special proclamation for the Montana Griz and all of their sucess?"
And Governor Gianforte's response couldn't have been more direct.

"When I was down in Nashville at the finals, where the Bobcats took on Illinois -- and aw geez, we all lost two years off our life in that game -- but I ran into Charlie Baker, who is the executive director of the NCAA, I knew him when was governor of Massachusetts," Governor Gianforte shared, "And I gave him a hard time frankly, I said 'Charlie, you made a big mistake. You got your bracket screwed up.'"
"This game here in Nashville should've been the Bobcats versus the Grizzlies."
Governor Gianforte Reflects On National Championship Game
Governor Gianforte went on to share that he felt the national game took place before the game between MSU and Illinois.
"I think the national championship actually occurred in Bozeman at the [Brawl of the Wild 2.0]," Gianforte explained, "If [Baker] had gotten his brackets straight, the Griz would have met the Bobcats in Nashville and that would have been the game of the century."
Governor Gianforte Congratulates The Bobcats
Governor Gianforte shared that he had the Bobcats out to the capital and said they had quite the appetite.
"I'm so proud of those Bobcats, I had Coach Vigen and the entire team up to the capital last week that's when I made the proclamation for Bobcat Day and we fed them... and geez, they consumed a lot of food," Gianforte shared.
