
What You Need To Know About Montana’s Good Samaritan Law
A few days ago, I wrote an article about how folks are saying that residents in Great Falls have become rude because fewer and fewer people are stopping to help folks who are stuck in the snow.

My opinion on this is that people are sue someone in today's day and age, and this is what deters people from helping their neighbors in need.
A few people were curious about Montana's Good Samaritan law and how it relates to stopping and helping someone.
The thought process is that this particular law may protect you if something terrible happens while you are helping someone on the side of the road.
I am not a lawyer or an expert on Montana law, so please do not take this as an official analysis.
I'm merely about to give you my impression as to what the Montana Good Samaritan law does or does not cover.

Montana's Good Samaritan Law
After researching Montana's Good Samaritan law, it quickly became apparent that it only applies to medical issues.
It appears that the law was designed to protect a person who is assisting someone that is experiencing an overdose.
This law protects the individual helping this person from potential charges or arrest.
The law also helps protect pregnant women seeking substance abuse help.
Nowhere in the law does it apply to helping someone who breaks down or gets stuck on the side of the road.
