AGREE OR DISAGREE? The Great Falls Fireworks Ban Is A Failure
Back in November, we shared the news with you that a fireworks ban passed in City of Great Falls and was intended to change the way we celebrate our favorite holidays.
The keyword here is: "Intended."
What's The Rule For Fireworks in Great Falls?
Currently, the city's ban on fireworks limits citizens to popping off sparklers, fountains and other fireworks that stay on the ground or don't go aerial.
For New Year's Eve, citizens were permitted to pop off those grounded fireworks between the hours of 10 PM on New Year's Eve to 12:30 AM on New Year's Day.

But as we all know - that's not how it worked out... at all. My family and I live in northwest Great Falls and boy... it sounded like a full-on fireworks extravaganza in our neighborhood. And for the record - I'm not complaining.
While I think there were good intentions behind voters choosing to pass the ban on fireworks within city limits, I think it's time to admit that it's a senseless ban.
Will The Fireworks Ban End In Great Falls?
As of now, there's no signs of the city ban ending any time soon. But, as reported by our colleague JD, Great Falls Fire Rescue reported eight calls for EMS, one disturbance call, one motor vehicle crash, and one house fire call.
I don't know about you, but that sounds like a relatively tame night... even with all of the fireworks popping off above Great Falls. Should we really keep a ban that people won't obey anyway?

As we all saw on New Year's Eve, if someone wants to pop fireworks off, they're going to pop fireworks off.
What do you think? Do you think the citywide ban on fireworks worked? Or do you think it's a futile attempt to prevent what's going to happen anyway?
