I would wager that most of us have old chemicals or hazardous materials taking up space in our garages or sheds.

Whether it's an old bag of fertilizer or some old weed killer that is no longer effective, the last thing you want to do is throw them in the garbage.

The good news is that the City of Great Falls is gearing up for a household hazardous waste collection event on April 12th.

Hazardous Waste Collection Event In Great Falls

The City of Great Falls will host a household hazardous waste collection event on Saturday, April 12th, from 9 AM to 1 PM, in partnership with Veolia North America.

The event will occur at the corner of 1st St. S and 3rd Ave. S.

The hazardous waste collection event is free and open to the public

It provides an excellent opportunity for area residents to safely dispose of dangerous waste materials commonly found in households.

Accepted Items

Take a look at a few of the items accepted at this year's hazardous waste disposal event in Great Falls, Montana.

  • Antifreeze

  • Gasoline

  • Lighter fluid

  • Paint thinner

  • Road flares

  • Shellac

  • Fertilizer

  • Pesticides

  • Furniture polish

  • Insect spray

  • Disinfectants

  • Hair color remover

  • Nail polish, and more.

Exclusions

A few items won't be accepted at this year's event.

Those include latex base, paint, products, items containing mercury, and waste from commercial businesses.
