National Chain Bails in Helena, Great Falls Safe for Now

In a kind of good news, bad news kind of way, Big Lots has started to close stores across the United States.

That would be part of the bad news.  The other part is that one of those stores is located in Helena, Montana.

And as a glass is half full kind of guy, I think it good news that the Great Falls location will be staying in the Holiday Village Mall.

While Unfortunate for Helena, We Were Warned in Advance

Just a couple of weeks ago we reported on Big Lots and their filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.  That report stated that the company was expecting to close between 35 and 40 stores in 2024.

However, reporting through NewsNation shows that nearly 27 states have stores that show websites with closure notices.  They found nearly 60 stores alone in California, with another 89 stores closing across the country.

No Definitive Date Set for Closure of Helena, MT Store Yet

Checking the website for Big Lots in Helena, one is greeted by a large banner that states that they are closing the store, with savings up to 20% off.  You can view their website here.

Thankfully it is the only location in Montana that will be closing, as of now.  It also means that our local mall in Great Falls won't be losing another tenant, which is a good thing.  We'll update this story if more closures are announced within the state.
