Walmart Cracking Down on Montana Shoppers Who Use These

Saving money.  Try as we might, some things just don't work the way we want them to.  For me, that is couponing.  I get it.  I can save money if I clip them and take them to the store.  It isn't brain surgery.  But by the time you hunt them down in whatever magazine, flyer, newspaper or phone code, it becomes a little larger of a project than I am willing to undertake.

But for those that do love to find the best deals out there and use a coupon to do so, Walmart is making it a little harder to find those savings and deals.

The New Policy That Will Make Clipping Coupons a Little More Difficult

As of September 24, 2023, Walmart has updated the coupon policy at its stores across the nation.  This is the first update in 6 years from the corporation.

And while there are several updates to the coupon policy, one of the largest that will affect everyone trying to save money is that of "elimination of overage".

Elimination of Overage Will Eliminate That Extra Money for Other Items

Elimination of overage is simple.  A vendor would honor the full value of a coupon, no matter the actual price of the product.  So, for example, if your product was $4 but your coupon said $5, you would receive that extra dollar amount back to you in cash or applied to the total price of goods.

Walmart offered the following statement regarding elimination of overage:

Walmart does not give cash back nor will any overages apply to the remaining items in the transaction if the value of a coupon is greater than the purchase value of the item.
