Montana Tech Brings Big-Time College Hoops to Fort Benton

I've always said that one of my favorite things about this community is how tight everyone is with one another. When talking to locals about it, I'm often told that's why people always find a way to come back to their favorite parts of Montana.

Right out the gate, I'll tell you that basketball is my favorite sport. I grew up playing it, loving it, watching it, and my sister was even good enough to go on to play college hoops in Alabama. Me, well, I never really "panned out" as my coaches used to say.

While I would love to see an NBA game in Montana, we just don't have any pro teams here. But thankfully, we have college hoops and if you've never seen college basketball, you're missing out on some high quality competition.

The Montana Tech basketball program will be treating folks in the Fort Benton area to some of that competition with a special game taking place next Friday on December 19th.

Montana Tech vs. NW Poly Tech in Fort Benton

On December 19th, Montana Tech will face NW Poly Tech at Fort Benton HS Gym at 6 PM. It'll also mark the return of Hayden Diekhans, a Montana Tech senior forward who earned all-state and all-conference during his playing career at Fort Benton.

Before the game, there will be a pre-party at the Community Bible Center at 4 PM. There will be a chili dog buffet, wheat chili, white chicken chili, rolls and cookies. You'll also get a chance to win some door prizes from Montana Tech and Fort Benton.

Fort Benton alumni along with Diekhans will also be celebrated. After the game, fans will have the opportunity to have a meet and greet with players in Longhorn Cafe.
