Popular Snacks May Be Contaminated With Salmonella
Heads up, a popular candy company out of Sioux City, Iowa, has announced a voluntary recall due to potential salmonella contamination.
The candies in question are made by the Palmer Candy Company and are classified as their “White Coated Confectionary Items.”
Salmonella can be harmful and potentially cause fatal infections in young children, the elderly, and individuals with weak immune systems.

The products that are being recalled have been distributed nationwide.

The states of concern are...
- Alabama
- California
- Florida
- Illinois
- Iowa
- Kansas
- Missouri
- Nebraska
- North Dakota
- Oregon
- Pennsylvania
- South Carolina
- South Dakota
- Texas
- Virginia
- Wisconsin
- Wyoming
At this point, there have been no confirmed illnesses related to any of these products.
Source of Contamination
The contamination lies with the liquid coating supplier, which reportedly has been contaminated with salmonella.
As a precautionary measure, the Palmer Candy Company suspended production and issued a recall.
The Food and Drug Administration is currently looking into the issue.

- Caramel Swirl Pretzels (4 oz)
- Cookies & Cream Yummy Chow (14#)
- Munchy Medley (4 oz)
- Peanut Butter Snack Mix (12 oz)
- Vanilla Yogurt Covered Pretzels (10 oz)
- Zebra Fudge Cookies (7 oz)
The recall has also been expanded to include:
- Patriotic White Fudge Cookies (13.5 oz)
- Drizzled Caramel Corn (5 oz and 12 oz)
