What You Need To Know About Spring In Montana
Nothing will break you out of an arctic plunge quite like a mild spring day here in the Treasure State.
But we know all too well how volatile spring in Montana can be.

Spring in Montana
Some years it seems like it takes forever for spring to actually show up.
This year we've had some pretty mild days already and it's not even officially spring yet.
In case you're curious, the first day of spring is Thursday, March 20th at 10:57 AM to be exact.
But just because March 20th officially marks the beginning of spring does not mean that it will feel like spring or that Mother Nature will cooperate.
What Is Spring In Montana Like?
Having been born and raised in Montana, there are a few things about spring that stand out to me.
Weather
- Spring is hands-down, one of the most volatile times for weather here in Montana. It can literally go from 70 and sunny to snow and cold in a matter of minutes. Keep that in mind if you're hoping to get outside and recreate.
Allergies
- If you've never suffered through spring allergies, lucky you! The most common spring allergies here in Montana are caused by tree and grass pollen. Don't leave out the weeds; they start growing rapidly in spring and produce their own pollen as well.
Cabin Fever
- The one thing I can almost promise you with a Montana spring is that you'll feel cabin fever like never before. You look outside and it looks gorgeous, but it's cold the second you step outside. All you want to do after a harsh winter is get outside!
