Sand and gravel on the roads are a way of life during the winter months here in Montana.

Without it, we find ourselves, slipping and sliding and struggling to get from one end of town to the other.

In a sense, sand and gravel are necessary evils.

It is totally fine when there's still snow on the ground, but once all the snow has melted, it leaves quite the mess.

In our neck of the woods, we have to climb quite the hill to get home, and I'm here to tell you it gets a little tricky driving my pickup up that hill with all the gravel.

Street Sweepers

Following the snow and cold, there's no happier sign for me than when the street sweepers finally return to the roads.

Half dazed and confused following Sunday's time change, I was driving into work Monday morning, and lo and behold, the street sweepers were out!

They were working up and down 14th St., Southwest, right in front of the marketplace, picking up the massive amount of gravel left over from the winter.

I can't be the only one who's OCD about my vehicle and cannot stand the constant dust and grime from all the gravel.

Great Falls City Road Crews

On a side note, if you're looking for a new gig, the City of Great Falls is hiring more street maintenance crew members.

Personally, I think it would be a blast to drive a street sweeper around!

Here's the listing from Facebook.
