The Latest Details On Monday’s Stabbing In Great Falls.
Another serious incident in Great Falls. Monday night a man was arrested after police responded to an incident at an apartment in the 100 block of 12th Street North and found a man stabbed in the chest. 28 year old James Smallboy was taken into custody a short time later at another residence. He's been charged with one count of assault with a weapon and aggravated burglary.
Police say Smallboy had been staying at the apartment a few weeks prior to Monday's stabbing. One witness says Smallboy entered the apartment through an unlocked door. When the residents of the apartment returned there was a confrontation and the unidentified victim was stabbed in the chest. The victim is in serious condition but is expected to survive.
Background on Smallboy
Smallboy has been in trouble with the law before. The Box Elder resident was found guilty of aggravated assault with a weapon and was sentenced in a Great Falls Federal Courthouse to 39 months in federal prison, followed by two years of supervised release. The incident occured up on the Blackfeet Reservation back in 2017. He also has three violations of probation on his criminal history. He was sent back to prison in October of last year for four months for violating conditions of his release. Federal court documents say he failed to report for substance abuse treatment and admitted that he was using both meth and alcohol which violates conditions of his release.
