Yellowstone the TV show is a big hit for Montana. Plus photos.
The TV show Yellowstone is responsible for bringing in over $730,000,000 to Montana's economy. This comes from a report conducted by the University of Montana and the schools Bureau of Business and Economic Research and the Institute for Tourism.
The report says the show has brought in around $376,000,000 in income to Montana households and another $44,000,000 in state tax revenue.
The report also says just over two million have visited the state because of the TV show in 2021 alone. All attracted by the beauty of Montana and the scenery the show brings to your TV. Everything from food services, hotels, rental companies and more are all benefiting from Yellowstone.
The show is mostly filmed around the Montana towns of Darby, Hamilton, Missoula and the Bitterroot valley. Today, the hit TV show is now in its fifth season and employs over 527 Montanans who help out with the production of the show.
In the university study a whopping 72% of the visitors to Montana said they had watched the show and another 20% said the show Yellowstone influenced their visitation decision a lot or a great deal. The report also estimates that just over three thousand people have moved to the state because of the show.
Today, the show Yellowstone is the highest rated non-sports television show with as many as 13-million people watching a single episode.
The show is about a Montana family that is trying to keep it's ranch away from people that want to take it and develop the land. Kevin Costner, the star of the show, is now the Governor of Montana in the show Yellowstone.
