AT&T Outages Reported Across Great Falls: What’s Going On?
If you had trouble getting through to friends, coworkers, or even law enforcement by phone Thursday morning, don't worry - it wasn't just you.
As I was scrolling through my feed, I noticed several posts from locals including from Great Falls police department, notifying followers they would be difficult to reach.
So, what in the world is going on?
AT&T Customers Around Great Falls Report Outages
One of the first posts I came across was from a local musician and realtor.
"I’m sure everyone is aware, but there is AT&T outage right now in case you don’t hear back from any of us quickly!" she posted.
While I felt bad for her situation (imagine how tough it is to not be able to call back a customer for your business!), I didn't put much thought into any major outage across the network.

That is, until I came across a post from Great Falls police.
"Several City offices are currently experiencing a phone and internet outage, including Non-Emergency Dispatch," police said. "The outage is also affecting AT&T's cell phone network. Until lines are repaired, please use 406-454-6979 for non-emergency needs."
"FOR EMERGENCIES - 911 IS STILL WORKING."
Well, that's good news at least, right?
AT&T Outage in Montana
I'm not an AT&T customer so I don't have a way to access the customer portal to check outages. But I did check with AT&T's standard outage map and surprise: no outages.
However, there is a small dot in Great Falls for an AT&T outage on IstheServiceDown.com.

On DownDetector.com, however, you'll see a spike of outages reported from this morning.
All of that said, I have no doubt there are folks hard at work fixing whatever is wrong with the network here in Cascade County.
Stay safe out there!
