It never fails; the rumors fly when people see snow in the forecast.

Rumors begin to fly because it isn't easy to trust the various forecasts we get on our mobile devices.

One app will show you one thing, while another phone app will show you something entirely different.

Friday and Saturday: Snow Expected South of Great Falls and Winifred

As colder air tracks into the state, areas just south of Great Falls and Winifred will have the best chance of picking up some snow Friday afternoon into Saturday morning.

Conversely, most of the lower elevations will only receive a rain and snow mixture, resulting in minimal accumulation.

  • Lower Elevation Accumulation: Expected to stay under an inch in most lower-lying areas.
  • Mountain Ranges: The Little Belts, Big Belts, and Snowies could see a few inches of snow, while Kings Hill Pass may accumulate one to two inches. Higher elevations in the southern ranges may see up to six inches.

Sunday and Monday: Potentially Significant Snow Event for Southwest Montana

As we glanced towards Sunday and Monday, forecast models hint at a better chance of snow in southwestern Montana for areas along the continental divide.

Confidence also increases that lower elevations, including Bozeman, may see measurable snowfall.

Next week's total accumulation is still uncertain and must be monitored closely over the next few days.
