His Name Is Kyle Spearson And What Is He Accused Of Doing In Great Falls?

Great Falls Police have arrested a 32 year old man charging him with sexual intercourse without consent and sexual assault, both felonies.  His name is Kyle Spearson and police allege that he raped a 15 year old girl back in 2017.

The story begins back on March 18, 2017 when the victim left her house and did not return for several days.  She told police she is not sure what happened to her when she was away from home but she woke up on March 20, 2017 in an unfamiliar basement, her clothes were off and she was bleeding from the vaginal area and was experiencing pain in her genital area.  She was unable to tell police how she got to the basement.

She told police that when she woke up Kyle Spearson was clothed and laying next to her in bed. Police would also learn that the home in question was somewhere along 8th Avenue North.  She then went to Benefis ER to complete a rape kit complete with all the evidence police would eventually need.  At this point, nobody knew who the alleged assailant was.

How did they figure out who the suspect in the case was?

Fast forward to January of this year and police made contact with Spearson in another case and obtained two buccal swabs from his mouth.  When the results came back, they had a match from the 2017 case.  The DNA report said the sperm cell fraction taken way back in 2017 matched his DNA and that there was a one in 870 septillion chance that it could be wrong.

Great work by Great Falls Police, they never gave up on this case.  Spearson is in jail today on a $100,000 bond.  He faces life in prison.
