Billings Bail Bondsman Case Shocks Montana Community

There’s a story coming out of Billings that feels like something straight out of an episode of Law & Order: SVU.

It’s now in Montana federal court, and it involves someone who worked inside the bail system.

Bail Bondsman Accused of Coercion in Exchange for Bail

A Billings bail bondsman has pleaded guilty in federal court after prosecutors say he coerced women into having sex with him in exchange for posting bail.

Here's what is known so far. It centers on conversations the women initially had with 46-year-old Louis Christopher Ikeda about bail. According to investigators, those conversations quickly turned sexual in nature.

Prosecutors say Ikeda would go on to post bail after those exchanges. In one instance, he allegedly drove one of the women to a secluded area near the river in Billings, where she later said she felt pressured into having sex with him.

Federal Charges And Potential Penalties for Ikeda

In two other cases, women being held at the Yellowstone County Detention Facility were contacted about bail. Again, investigators say the conversations turned sexual. Ikeda posted bail for both women, and both later reported feeling he was expecting sexual favors in return for their release.

Both of those women were eventually able to avoid further contact with him after getting out of jail.

Ikeda has now pleaded guilty to one count of using a facility in interstate commerce in aid of racketeering.

If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison, a $250,000 fine, and three years of supervised release.
