How Investigators Traced The Case To Missoula County
NBC Montana reports that Felde pleaded guilty in June to receiving child sexual abuse material.
The investigation started after tips from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children led authorities to Missoula County, where they helped investigators identify Felde as the source of the material.
Law enforcement then searched his home and seized multiple electronic devices, including cellphones, computers, USB drives, and external hard drives.
Montana Agencies Worked Together On The Investigation
A forensic examination of those devices uncovered 23,716 images and 643 videos depicting child sexual abuse.
The Missoula Police Department and the Montana Division of Criminal Investigation worked together on the case.
The prosecution was part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide Department of Justice initiative focused on combating child sexual exploitation and abuse.
