Political Signs-Coming Soon To Great Falls

One of the more fun sides of politics is the signs you get to put up in your yard and show support for certain candidates. As we get closer to the 2024 election there are some regulations you should keep in mind when placing signs.

1. You should only place signs on private property

There are a lot of renters in Montana and some renters may not be able to put up signs in their yard. According to the City of Great Falls, signs can only be set up on private property with the owners permission. If you are the owner then you are free to set up wherever you please on your property. However, renters would have to get permission from the owner of the house before placing any political signage.

2. Signs should be away from curbs and intersections

Great Falls requires signs to be at least 12 feet away from the curb and 45 feet away from intersections to keep clear vision for drivers. Signs are also not allowed on public property including trees, utility poles and other public property.

3. There is a time limit on signs.

Signs are only able to be up 60 days before the election and must be taken down no more than 7 days after the election has completed. This means signs can start being placed as of September 5th for 2024 and must be taken down before November 12th.
